Job Description

Position Overview

As a Senior Systems Implementation and Data Migration Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful deployment, integration, and customization of our software solutions, and migration of customer data. You will work closely with clients to understand their operational needs, offer consultation with regard to best practices and recommendations, guide them through the technical aspects of implementation, and manage the complexities of migrating existing data into our platform. 

This is a fully remote position, with working hours aligned to U.S. Eastern Time due to the need for collaboration across teams in Europe and on the U.S. West Coast.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a member of a project team, manage data migrations and lead in technical aspects of end-to-end implementation of SaaS solutions for integrated library systems, digital repositories, and research data management platforms.
  • Collaborate with clients to gather and assess technical requirements, ensuring the solution meets their operational and strategic goals.
  • Handle all aspects of data migration, including mapping, cleansing, validation, and transformation of data from legacy systems to our platform.
  • Work with clients to design and execute data migration plans from an analytical, detail-oriented approach that ensures data integrity.
  • Configure and customize TIND instances.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for clients to ensure they are confident using the system post-deployment.
  • Develop and maintain detailed implementation and migration documentation, including integration points, and configuration details.
  • Provide feedback on product enhancements based on client needs and implementation experiences.
  • Occasional travel to Oslo, Norway for on-site team collaboration, and to US-based customer location for onsite implementations (if applicable).

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS), or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems implementation and data migration, content/resource organization and management, or metadata services, preferably within library systems or digital repository environments.
  • Experience with data migration, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Familiarity with data standards such as MARC21, Dublin Core, DataCite, and MODS.
  • Familiarity with digital archives, institutional repository, or integrated library systems (ILS)  solutions.
  • Strong technical skills in system configuration, data analysis, and data migration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Python is a strong plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment

Education

Ideally, you have one of the following:

  • Higher education degree in Library Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Location

Our Implementation team is located in Norway and California. This is a fully remote position, with working hours aligned to US Eastern Time due to the need for collaboration across teams in Europe and on the US West Coast, as well as to provide crucial daytime support to customers implementing in the US.

Working Language

Our working language is English, both internally and externally with customers. The team at TIND consists currently of about 50% Norwegians and the rest are American, French, Italian and British.
